LIVE-Rollespil

Rollespil går ud på, at man forestiller sig at være en anden person i en eller anden historie, der kan foregå i fantasien. Et rollespil adskiller sig fra et skuespil ved, at det ikke er til skue. Det forstyrrer rollespillet hvis en eller flere personer under et rollespil ikke deltager, og altså bryder den illusion som spillerne har. I et rollespil er der altså per definition ingen tilskuere, men kun medvirkende, der har en mere eller mindre aktiv ‘rolle’. Derudover adskiller rollespillet sig også fra skuespillet ved, at rollespillet ofte har et meget stort element af improvisation over sig, selv om en vis del sagtens kan være fastlagt. Den del af rollespillet der er fastlagt, er oftest planlagt af spillederen eller arrangørerne (også kaldet en Game Master), som igennem rollespillet ved fortælle en historie eller fremprovokere nogen følelser hos spilleren, for at give dem en oplevelse.

Liverollespil eller levende rollespil er improviseret totalteater typisk uden andre tilskuere end spillerne selv. Det foregår i et såkaldt scenarie, hvor alle deltagere har konstrueret eller har fået tildelt en rolle. Disse roller knyttes så sammen med mål, konflikter, pligter og ansvar. Men når spillet går i gang, er der ingen, der kommer og fortæller en, hvad man skal gøre. Det er personen selv, der udvikler og lever sig ind i sin rolle og bestemmer, hvordan historien skal udvikle sig. (Wikipedia)

It is spring 1964.
In Europe, the propaganda machinery of the Greater German Reich are preparing for Hitler’s 75th birthday, which will be the greatest media event in the history of the world. In America, President Joseph P. Kennedy is getting ready for his meeting with the German Führer, which hopefully will make the Cold War across the Atlantic even colder. In the Ural mountains Russian partisans fight a desperate war against the Nazis that has been going on for decades and seems unlikely to ever end. Desperation and hardship has plagued Mother Russia since Stalin’s surrender in 1943. But the Russian people are a hard one, and even though the future looks bleak, not all are prepared to give up hope. Though the Second World War is over, the Great Patriotic War is not, and for decades the struggle has continued in the Ural mountains. But if salvation is to be found, it is not to be found at the front. But near Petroskaya in Central Siberia lies a secret training camp housing Project Anastasyia, which is the last hope of the Rodina – The Motherland.

Vision

The Motherland is a larp about individuals and collectives. It is a larp about nationalism and humanity, about comrades and consequences. But most of all it is a larp about choices and sacrifices and of the price of freedom. It is a larp made for love of the art, but it is also a larp made for love of the game. The Motherland is not a larp where physical realism is a goal in itself, nor is it a larp where immersion is the only important thing.

It is a larp where the feel matters more than the reality and where the goal is to let players have meaningful experiences and let them tell meaningful stories based on those experiences. It is also a larp where player choices not only can change player experiences, but is intended to do so. And finally, it is a larp we hope you will enjoy.
